on the cover of Newsweek (December 31, 1984).
          During the 1980s and 1990s, a new word, “Yuppie,” became popular, which is the shortened form to mean a “young urban professional.” Joseph Epstein is said to have coined the term in 1982, although the word “yuppie” itself was already published in the magazine Chicago as early as May 1980 through an article written by Dan Rottenberg. The year 1984 was declared by Newsweek as “The Year of the Yuppie” (SEE attached cover page).
