1956 – Reparation Agreement between the Philippines and Japan was signed in Malacañang. The agreement provided for the payment of 800 million dollars by Japan to the Philippines for the damage caused during World War II.

1872 –Gregorio Singian, noted surgeon (d. January 29, 1939).

1875 – Gregoria de Jesus, revolutionary worker and wife of Andres Bonifacio – in Kalookan, Rizal (now Kalookan City) (d. March 15, 1943).

1900 – David Nepomuceno, sprinter and first Filipino to compete in the Olympics (d. September 27, 1939).

          Ang Pilipinas ay nagdaos ng kauna-unahan nitong nationawide fully-automated election noong araw ng Lunes, Mayo 10, 2010, bilang pagsunod sa Republic Act No. 9369 (Amended Computerization Act of 2007).

          Ayon sa record ng Commission on Election (COMELEC), 99 ang nagpatalang nais kumandidato bilang Pangulo ng Pilipinas, subalit siyam lamang sa mga ito ang inaprubahan ng commission. Sa nasabing halalan, mayroong mahigit 85,000 kandidato para sa 17,000 puwesto sa national at local na pamahalaan. Batay din sa record, humigit-kumulang 40 porsyento ng mga botante ay mula sa 18-35 age bracket, kabilang ang halos tatlong angaw na bagong rehistradong botante.
