          Ayon sa record ng Commission on Election (COMELEC), 99 ang nagpatalang nais kumandidato bilang Pangulo ng Pilipinas, subalit siyam lamang sa mga ito ang inaprubahan ng commission. Sa nasabing halalan, mayroong mahigit 85,000 kandidato para sa 17,000 puwesto sa national at local na pamahalaan. Batay din sa record, humigit-kumulang 40 porsyento ng mga botante ay mula sa 18-35 age bracket, kabilang ang halos tatlong angaw na bagong rehistradong botante.

Ang True Experience Stories ay isang babasahing komiks na unang lumabas sa sirkulasyon noong Marso 3, 1988. Inilimbag ito ng Atlas Publishing Co., Inc. sa ilalim ng patnugot ni Antonio S. Tenorio. Naglalaman ito ng mga kuwentong wakasan na ipinadala ng mga mambabasa. Sa mga unang isyu ng komiks na ito ay itinampok ang “Kakila-Kilabot na Gabi ng Lagim” na isinulat mismo ni A. S.           Si Lisa Teresita Pacheco Macuja ay ang ipinagmamalaking prima ballerina ng Pilipinas. Noong 1984, siya ay naging kauna-unahang Filipina at banyagang soloist na napabilang sa bantog na Kirov Ballet.

Ang Scientific Name o Pangalang-Agham
          Alam niyo ba kung ano ang scientific name o pangalang-agham? Ang pormal na sistema ng pagbibigay pangalan sa bawat nabubuhay na bagay (living things) ay tinatawag na “binominal nomenclature.” Sa sistemang ito, ang pangalan ng bawat bagay na nabubuhay ay binubuo ng genus name at species name. Bilang halimbawa, ang tao ay nabibilang sa genus na homo at sa species na sapiens, kaya sa binominal nomenclature ang pangalan ng tao ay Homo sapiens. Ito rin ang scientific name ng tao. Ang sistemang ito ay sinimulan ng Swedish botanist na si Carolus Linaeus (1707-1778).

          Karaniwang ang mga scientific names ay halaw sa mga salitang Latin o mga Latinized na pangalan ng tao o pook. Halimbawa, ang Homo sapiens ay mula sa mga salitang Latin na homo (“tao”) at sapiens (“marunong”). Ang scientific name ng Tamaraw na Bubalus mindorensis ay mula salitang Latin na ang ibig sabihin ay “kalabaw sa Mindoro.”

          Ang unang letra ng genus name ay laging capitalized, samantalang ang species name ay laging small letters maging ito man ay halaw sa pangalan ng tao o pook. Isang tuntunin din na laging naka-italized ang pagkakasulat ng scientific name. Halimbawa ang species names ng Philippine eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi), Philippine flying lizard (Draco rizali), ang Waling-Waling (Vanda sanderiana), ang isdang labahita (Acanthurus bleekeri), atbp. ay mula sa pangalan ng tao. Samantalang ang sa African elephant (Loxodontia africana), ang kahoy na kamagong (Dispyros philippinensis), ang prutas na avocado (Persea americana), atbp. ay sa pangalan ng pook.
