1898 – The Makabulos Republic was established with the promulgation of the Maabulos Constitution by the revolutionary assembly in Tarlac led by Francisco Makabulos.
1900 – U.S. Senator George F. Hoar gave a speech condemning American imperialist policy toward the Filipinos and advocating Philippine independence.
1948 – Vice president Elpidio Quirino was sworned in as president two days after President Manuel A. Roxas died of heart attack.
