Picture Trivia
Oprah Winfrey on the covers of Entertainment Weekly (September 9, 1994)
and People weekly (September 9, 1996).
Oprah Winfrey is considered as one of the most influential women in the world. Her biography is full of “sad” experiences, though it is one of the most extraordinary “rag-to-riches” stories. Noteworthy are her contribution in the field of broadcast media and her being a philanthropist. Her opinions are highly valued by her viewers and because of this any products she endorsed are well-received by the viewing consumers. Any products she mentioned in her show that she likes do well in the market. Any person she introduced in her show as “extraordinary” eventually becomes well-known and successful. Even books that are virtually unknown become bestsellers once she picked it to be part of her “Book Club.” This has been termed as the “Oprah Effect.”

Pigtails worn by a college student featured
on the cover of Life (September 8, 1941).
         Picture Trivia
According to most standard dictionaries, a “pigtail” is “a single long braid of hair hanging at the back of the head.” Hair fashion style history, however, defined “pigtails” (plural) as a hair style with two braids hanging on both sides of the head just above the ears.”
During ancient times in China, it is a tradition that unmarried girls fixed their hair on this manner, two braids on both sides of the head. After marriage, it becomes a single braid on the back of the head. The Chinese brought this tradition to the West, and was subsequently adopted by Western women.

Ang Tyrannosaurus rex o T-rex
(kuha mula sa pelikulang Jurassic Park),
tampok sa taklob-pahina ng
Empire (August 1993).

Stegosaurus (buong larawan),
Brontosaurus (ulo at leeg ang makikita),
at Rhamphorynchus (lumilipad),
tampok sa taklob-pahina ng Life
(September 7, 1953).
Larawang Tribiya

KARAGDAGANG KAALAMAN

Si Steven Speilberg na napapalibutan
ng mga Velociraptors, tampok sa
taklob-pahina ng Time (May 19, 1997).
