          Ang Kapisanan sa Paglilingkod sa Bagong Pilipinas (KALIBAPI) ay itinatag bilang isang partido politikal sa pakikipagkolaborasyon sa Japaneses military authority sa Manila noong Disyembre 2, 1942. Si Jorge Vargas ang pangulo ng partido samantalang si Benigno S. Aquino Sr naman ang director-general. Ang partidong ito ang pumili kay Jose P. Laurel upang maging pangulo ng Pilipinas sa panahon ng pananakop ng mga Hapon.

          Isa sa pinakamahabang serye sa komiks ang “Anak ni Zuma” na tumagal ng humigit-kumulang walong taon. Ito ay likha ni Jim Fernandez at iginuhit ni Ben Maniclang para sa Aliwan Komiks (1976-1984). Ang kuwento ay pagpapatuloy ng naunang serye ni Fernandez na Zuma. Ang mga pangunahing karakter sa kuwentong ito bukod sa taong-ahas na si Zuma ay ang mga anak niya. Si Galema, ang babaeng anak ni Zuma na mayroon ding nakakabit na ahas sa magkabilang panig ng kaniyang leeg. May mabuting kalooban si Galema na taliwas sa kaniyang ama. Ito ay dahil may dugong tao siya, lumaki sa piling ng mga nag-ampon sa kaniyang sina Philip at Isabel, at nagmahal at nagkaasawa, si Morgan. Si Dino, ang lalaking anak ni Zuma na may katawang tao at ulo ng isang malaking ahas. Bukod dito, may isa pang kakambal si Galema, ang puting ahas na sa maraming pagkakataon ay katulong niya.

          Isina-pelikula ang Anak ni Zuma (1987) ng Cine Suerte Inc. bilang sequel ng naunang pelikulang Zuma na ginampanan ni Max Laurel sa ilalim ng direksyon ni Ben S. Yalung. Si Jenny Lyn ang gumanap bilang Galema at si Sonny Erang bilang Dino. Si Laurel pa rin ang gumanap bilang Zuma. Ang iba pang  kasama sa pelikula ay sina Rey PJ Abellana (bilang Morgan), Mark Gil (bilang Philip) at Dang Cecilio (bilang Isabel).

          Alam niyo ba na bukod sa karaniwang Mothers Day at Fathers Day ay mayroon ding Grandparents Day? Ito ay nagsimula noong 1978, nang ipoklama ni U.S. Presdient Jimmy Carter ang ikalawang araw ng Linggo ng buwan ng Setyembre bilang “Grandparents Day.” Ang pag-aalaala sa mga lolo at lola ay mula sa pagsisikap ng isang maybahay sa Fayette County, sa West Virginia, na nagngangalang Marian McQuade, na naglaan ng kaniyang panahon para sa kapakanan ng mga matatanda sa mga nursing homes.

          The 1999 film Wild, Wild West starring Will Smith (as James T. West) and Kevin Kline (as Artemus Gordon) is a big screen adaptation of the CBS television series The Wild, Wild West (1965-1969). The TV version featured Robert Conrad as the courageous, resourceful and fast gun James T. West, and Rose Martin as the gadgets experts and master of disguise Artemus Gordon. The hit TV series was created by Michael Garrison at the time when “spy” films were very popular. Garrison called his lead character as the “James Bond on horseback.”

Ang Buwan ng Hunyo

          Ang buwan ng Hunyo o June ay pang-anim na buwan sa Gregorian Calendar. Maraming iba’t-ibang etimolohiya ang pinaniniwalaang pinanggalingan ng pangalan ng buwang ito. Ang June ay dating pang-apat na buwan sa Roman Calendar na sinasabing ipinangalan kay Juno, na kapatid at asawa ng punong-diyos ng mga Romano na si Jupiter. Mayroon ding nagsasabing ito ay mula sa pangalan ni Junius Brutus, isang bayaning nagpalaya sa mga Romano sa mga mananakop na Estruscans noong 510 B.C. Maaari ring mula ito sa tawag sa mababang kalipunan ng Roman Senate na Juniores. Ayon sa manunulang Romano na si Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso, 43 B.C. – A.D. 17), ang pangalan ng buwan ay mula sa salitang juvenis na ang ibig sabihin ay “kabataan.” Ang buwang ng June ay laging naiaangkop bilang buwan ng kasalan dahil noon umanong sinaunang panahon, ito ang buwan na pinipili ng mga kabataang magsing-irog na pagdausan ng kanilang kasal.

          Sa Pilipinas, ang Hunyo ay karaniwang buwan kung saan nagsisimula ang tag-ulan. Isang kabalintunaan o irony sapagkat sa buwan ng Hunyo rin itinatakda ang simula ng pasukan sa paaralan. Sa kalakhang bahagi rin ng buwang ito ipinagdiriwang ng Pilipinas ang kaniyang kasaralinlan.

          Ang rosas, higit lalo ang may pulang kulay, ang natatanging bulaklak ng buwan ng Hunyo. Samantalang ang mga birthstones ng buwan ay ang perlas, moonstone at alexandrite.

Ang Men’s Edge ay unang lumabas sa sirkulasyon noong June 1994. Ang magazine na inilimbag ng Moneysaver Multi-Systems Marketing (na siya ring naglabas ng Moneysaver Magazine) ay lumalabas tuwing ikalawang buwan. Ayon na rin sa prologue “From the Staff,” ang magazine na Men’s Edge ay “magazine by men, for men, of men." Naglalaman ito ng mga bagay-bagay na may kinalaman at kaugnayan sa mga kalalakihan, mula kotse, high-tech gadgets, baril, hanggang sa good grooming, action at adventure. Naglalaman din ito ng mga larawan ng naggagandahang babae, katulad ng supermodel na si Abbygale Arenas (ang iba pang itinampok sa unang isyu ay sina Anna Gonzales at Stella White), na siyang unang naging cover girl ng magazine.           Sa mga unang drafts ng script ng Spider-Man 2, hindi lang si Doctor Octopus ang Marvel costumed character na lalabas sa pelikula; kasama rin sina Black Cat, The Lizard at si Harry Osborn bilang ang bagong Green Goblin. Subalit sa suhestiyon ng screen story writer na si Michael Chabon nilimitahan na lamang ito sa labanang Spider-Man at Doctor Octopus.
