Ang Focus magazine ay unang lumabas sa Pilipinas noong November 18, 1972, mahigit lamang dalawang buwan matapos ang deklarasyon ng Martial Law. Si Kerima Polotan ang una nitong editor, samantalang si Gregorio C. Brillantes naman ang nagsilbing managing editor. Kabilang sa mga staff writers nito ay sina Leticia Jimenez-Magsanoc, Julian V. Cruz at Alfredo Salanga, at mga arts consultants naman sina Mauro “Malang” Santos at Hugo C. Yonzon.

         In 1980, Donna Mills got the role as Abby Cunninghan in the would-be long-running primetime soap opera Knots Landing. She played the role that left a mark on the minds of viewers and fans for more than nine years until 1989.
          Mills agreed to be the non-nude cover of Playboy magazine’s November 1989 issue (Though she already appeared in the inside pictorials of the October 1987 issue) tagged as “Knots Landing’s Bitchy Sex Star.”
