Mercury’s real name is Farrokh Bulsara, a Parsi (Zoroastrian Persian refugee) born in the island of Zanzibar (now a part of Tanzania), in East Africa. He grew up as a teenager in India. He was dabbed as “Britain’s first Asian rock star.”
