It was in the Walt Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, first shown at the Carthay Circle Theater in Hollywood on December 21, 1937,  that the dwarfs were given names: Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy. In this film, Dopey is the only one who did not speak. Doc is the only one wearing eyeglasses. In a musical jam session in the film, Grumpy played the piano, Sleepy the trumpet, Dopey the drum, Doc the bass, Sneezy the accordion. Bashful was holding their banner and Happy acted as their leader and conductor.
