Picture Trivia

Left: The orca on the cover of People (June 23, 2014)
Right: The great-white shark on the cover of Onion Weekender (June 6, 2010)

In the open ocean, if an orca or killer whale battles a great white shark, do you know who will win? In the film Orca (1977), naturally the orca won. In a split second, the body of the great white shark rushing toward a woman in the water was cut in half by the orca’s bite before it could react. In the film Jaws 2 (1978), it was implied that the great-white shark won when the carcass of an orca was seen on the beach with a huge bite mark.
The killer whale (Orcinus orca) belong to the family of oceanic dolphin. It is an “apex predator,” and it fears no other creature in the sea. The great-white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), on the other hand, is the largest extant macropredatory fish in the planet.
