1570 – First battle of Manila, between the Filipinos led by Rajah Sulayman and the Spaniards led by Martin de Goiti.
1898 – General Emilio Aguinaldo established his dictatorial government in Cavite.
1906 – Philippine Postal Savings Bank was established and became a branch of the Bureau of Posts.
1954 – Trese Martires, the capital of Cavite, was declared a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 981.

          Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel became known for her title role in the French film Emmanuelle (1974) and Emmanuelle 2 (1975), which was based on the character created by Thai-born French novelist Emmanuelle Arsan (real name Marayat Bididh, 1932-2005) in the novel Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman (1959). She was soon typecast in the role of seductive woman. She also starred in the films Lady Chatterley's Lover (1981), Mata Hari (1985), and Private Lessons (1981), where she played the role of Nicole Mallow, a hired maid who seduced and taught sex to a teenage boy.
