Ang Philippine Free Press, isang lingguhang magasin sa wikang English, ay itinatag ng isang Amerikanong hukom na nagngangalang W. A. Kincaid. noong 1906. Sinasabing nabili ito ni Robert McCCulloch Dick (1873-1961) sa halagang isang piso. Muling sinimulan ni McCulloch-Dick ang paglilimbag ng mgazine noong noong Agosto 19, 1908. Sa ikalawang isyu ng magazine na ito (August 26, 1908) unang lumabas ang caricature ni "Juan de La Cruz," na sinasabing sumasagisag sa katauhan ng isang Filipino.  Madaling naubos ang puhunan ni McCulloch-Dick na 8,000 piso, subalit bago nabangkarote ang Philippine Free Press, kinuha niya si Theo S. Rogers na maging business managers.  Ang babasahing ito ay naging isang popular political magazine sa Pilipinas matapos ang World War II.

                   In 1962, while actor-comedian Bob Hope (real name Leslie Townes Hope, 1903-2003) was at the height of his showbiz career, he was awarded the United States Congressional Gold Medal for his works in providing entertainment to American troops stationed in different places around the world.           Do you know that Bob Hope has a share in the ownership of the American professional baseball team Cleveland Indians? He bought the share in 1946. After the Indians last game in the Cleveland Stadium in 1993, he sang “Thanks for the Memory.”
