Henry Fonda and his Daughter Jane of the cover of Life (February 22, 1960 |
Do you know that Henry Fonda
(1905-1982) and his daughter Jane, both excellent and renowned Hollywood
actors, had appeared together in only one film? This is On Golden Pond (1980),
under the direction of Mark Rydell from the story written by Ernest Thompson,
where they also portrayed father and daughter. It was in this film that Henry
Fonda won his only Academy Best Actor Award (although many critics agree that
he should have won in earlier films. He is on record the oldest person to win
the Academy Best Actor Award. It was also in this film that Katharine Hepburn
won her fourth Academy Best Actress Award.
Jane fonda, on the other hand, won two
Academy Best Actress Award ahead of his father: In 1971 for the film Klute and in 1978 for Coming Home.
