fast-pace, tera-byte speed, indeed!
“You never know what
will happen tomorrow: you are no more than a mist that is here for a little
while and then disappears. The most you should ever say is: ‘If it is the
LORD’s will, we shall still be alive to do this or that.’” – The Letter of James
4:14-15, The Jerusalem Bible.

“GOD gives some
people the ability to enjoy the wealth and property He gives them, as well as
the ability to accept their state in life and enjoy their work. They do not
worry about how short life is, because GOD keeps them busy with what they love
to do.” – Ecclesiastes 5:19-20, The

Poetry: My Love for You
MOD Vol. 25 No. 1134, May 28, 1993 On the cover: Eileen Grace Lapid Gaspar |
On this MOD May 28, 1993 issue is my poem “My
Love for You” (p. 44). Written about two years earlier before being published, and just like the poem
“A Sonnet for Hilda” (Published in MOD
Filipina, May 10, 1991 – SEE May 10, 2017 post),
I wasn’t able to give to the intended recipient.
MY
LOVE FOR YOU
One could write all the passionate verses
and
challenge the greatest poets, but still no one can write an epic
greater than my love for you!
One could paint all the beautiful portraits
and
overwhelm the greatest masters, but still no one can paint a masterpiece
greater than my love for you!
One could offer all the rarest diamonds
and
bestow the greatest riches, but still no one can offer a price
greater than my love for you.
If only you could see through my heart,
then
you will know the truth,
and
the truth will speak
only
of my love for you!
“Who can understand the human heart? There
is nothing else so deceitful; it is too sick to be healed.” – The Book of
Jeremiah 17:9, The Good News Bible in

Fiction (Short Story): Sparrows in the Park
Mr. & Ms. Vol. 23 No. 4, May 18, 1999 On the cover: Lucy Torres-Gomez and her mom Julie Torres |
This short story
titled “Sparrows in the Park” (pp. 40-41), I wrote in memory of the infamous
“Mendiola Massacre” (January 22, 1987) during the first year of President Cory
Aquino. Farmers asking for genuine land reform rallying in the street going to
Malacañang Palace were mercilessly fired upon and 18 of them were killed. The
perpetrators of this heinous crime have yet been punished.

MOD Vol. 43 No. 1893, May 2012
On the cover: Cristine Reyes

An assigned article,
“Having Pan” (pp. 50-51), is one I had “fun” writing. It’s all about the staple
breakfast bread of the Filipinos.
Also in MOD May 2012 issue in another assigned
article, “Flight Guide” (pp. 66-67), and its sidebar “One Bag, That’s It”

about Fernando Amorsolo in this issue, but this is posted on my other blog.
“‘I am the bread of
life,’ Jesus told them. ‘He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who
believes in me will never be thirsty. Now, I told you that you have seen me but
will not believe. Everyone whom my FATHER gives me will come to me. I will
never turn away anyone who comes to me, because I have come down from heaven to
do not my own will but the will of Him who sent me. And it is the will of Him
who sent me that I should not lose any of all those He has given me, but that I
should raise them all to life on the last day.” – The Gospel According to John
6:35-39, The Good News Bible in Today’s
