On Let’s Save Our Planet section of Mr. & Ms., some suggestions on how
“To be an environmentalist.....” You can do it. Everybody can do it. “Start
with your Yuletide garbage.” Manage your garbage and recycle!
“The observers gave
this command; the holy ones declared the sentence. This is so all people may
know that the Most High GOD rules over every kingdom on earth. GOD gives those
kingdoms to anyone He wants, and He chooses people to rule them who are not
proud.” – Daniel 4:17, The Everyday Bible,
New Century Version.

For Mr. & Ms. magazine’s Let’s Save Our Planet section, what
better way to celebrate the Yuletide Season than to do something for Mother
Nature and the environment. Instead of buying a Christmas tree, why not plant
one yourself.
“GOD’s power
protects you through your faith until salvation is shown to you at the end of
time.” – I Peter 1:5, The Everyday Bible,
New Century Version.

been overlooked at the encoding).
“In the last days
the mountain on which the LORD’s Temple stands will become the most important
of all mountains. It will be raised above the hills, and people from all
nations will come streaming to it.” – Isaiah 2:2, The Everyday Bible, New Century Version.

in the LORD for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings

Mr. & Ms. Vol. 22 No. 10, June 30, 1998
On the cover: Dodot Jaworski and Mikee Cojuangco |
A timely article in 1998, “The Shrinking Wood
Supply” (pp. 46-47), the write-up is still very much significant 19 years
after.
“If a tree is cut down, there is hope that it
will grow again and will send new branches. Even if its roots grow old in the
ground, and its stump dies in the dirt, at the smell of water it will bud and
put out new shoots like a plant.” – Job 14:7-9, The Everyday Bible, New Century Version.

In my early freelance career as a magazine
contributor, I used to make all sorts of trivia “quizzes” and “puzzlers” like
“Quiz for the Wiz” for Chinatown East
magazine, “Showbiz Quiz” for MOD Filipina
magazine, and “Braintwister” for Mr.
& Ms. magazine. I try to make them unique and interesting. Here’s an
example, “Word Countries” in Mr. &
Ms. “Braintwister” March 21, 2000 issue, where I even added an
illustration.
“To the LORD belong the earth and everything
in it, the world and all its inhabitants. For it was He who founded it on the
seas and planted it firm on the waters beneath.” – Psalms 24:1-2, The Revised English Bible with Apocrypha.

Let's Save Our Planet: Charge of the Last Tamaraw
![]() |
|
Mr. & Ms. Vol.
22 No. 46, March 16, 1999 On the cover: Piolo Pascual and Angela Grant |
I’m a consistent contributor for the Mr. & Ms. magazine section “Let’s
Save Our Planet.” This one, “Charge of the Last Tamaraw” (p. 39) is a reissue taken
from the 9-part special features article “An Education of Philippine Endangered
Species” published earlier in Celebrity
World magazine (September 4 – October
30, 1995), for which I won the top prize of the Science and technology
Journalism Award sponsored by the Philippines Press Institute and the
Philippine Geothermal Inc.
“In addition, I have
noticed that in this world you find wickedness where justice and right ought to
be. I told myself, ‘GOD is going to judge the righteous and the evil alike,
because every thing, every action, will happen at its own set time.’ I decided
that GOD is testing us, to show us that we are no better than animals. After
all, the same fate awaits man and animal alike. One dies just like the
other.....” – Ecclesiastes 3:16-19, The Good News Bible in Today’s English
Version
