Picture Trivia
Canadian country-pop singer-songwriter Shania Twain was born Eileen Regina Edwards. Her parents separated when she was two years old and her mother remarried. That is why she grew up using the name Eileen Twain, from her stepfather, Jerry Twain.
When she signed her first recording contract in 1991, she changed her first name to Shania, from the Ojibwa word that means “on my way.” Her stepfather, who is a full-blooded Ojibwa Indian, had a strong influence in Shania’s life.
In 1998, Shania’s album “Come On Over” became the “best-selling country album of all time by a female singer” and the “second best-selling album of any genre by a female singer” after The Bodyguard soundtrack album by Whitney Houston.
