Mr. & Ms., July 2005 On the cover: Borgy Manotoc and Bianca Gonzalez |
After Mr.
& Ms. went into a “weird” transformation, only a couple of my articles
were published. I said “weird” because it started publishing loads of articles
about “weird” things: Occultism, mysticism, paranormals and supernaturals,
ghost experiences, demonic encounters, bizarre sex, espousing gay marriages,
while showcasing a strictly Catholic dogma. The “Facts and Tips on Birthstones”
(pp. 94-95) was among the last of my articles published in the magazine. I
stopped contributing sometime in 2006. Besides, it wasn’t the same without its
jolly editor Jay Cunanan-Canlas. The magazine closed shop soon afterwards. My
guess is that its readers abandoned their patronage of the magazine they love
for decades because of the weirdness.
“There is gold and a multitude of rubies; but
the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” – The Book of Proverbs 20:15, Holy Bible, New King James Version.
