Noong May 13, 1950, muling binuhay ni Ravelo ang kaniyang superheroine na si Varga sa katauhan ni Darna. Unang lumabas si Darna sa Pilipino Komiks Blg. 77, kung saan ang una niyang naging kalaban ay si Valentina, ang Babaeng Ahas. Ang legendary Filipino illustrator na si Nestor Redondo ang gumuhit ng mga unang Darna.

Una namang naitampok sa taklob-pahina si Darna sa sumunod na isyu, Pilipino Komiks Blg. 78, Mayo 27, 1950, kung saan makikita ang orihinal na costume ng pinaka-paboritong superhero ng masang Filipino.

          Ang “tayabok” or “tayaboc” na kilala sa salitang English na jade vine (pangalang agham Strongylodon macrobotrys) ay matatagpuan sa mga primary forests ng Northern at Southern Luzon at sa Mindanao. Isang nakamamanghang katangian ng halamang ito ay ang kulay-jade (mapusyaw na luntian) at mala-tukang mga bulaklak nito na nakabiting nakapumpon. Ang tayabok, katulad ng maraming mga species ng iba pang mga natatanging halaman at hayop na sa Pilipinas lamang matatagpuan ay lubhang nanganganib ng mawala dahil sa walang habas pagsira ng mga kagubatan sa bansa.
