1636 – King Philip IV (1605-1665) of Spain ordered the “Pacification of Mindanao.”
1931 – The Philippine Aerial Taxi Company started operations as a commercial airline.
1945 – Bataan and Corregidor were liberated from the Japanese by the American forces.
1976 – Start of the PAEC-sponsored International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Training Course on the technical and economic aspects of nuclear power development.

          The American-German actor Emil Jannings (birth name Theodore Friedrich Emil Janenz, 1884-1950) was the first winner of the American Academy Award Best Actor Award (1927-1928), and the first person to receive an Oscar. This was for his portrayals in two films, The Way of All Flesh and The Last Command.                             o     O     o
