Disyembre 14 sa Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas

          Noong Disyembre 14, 1762, sinimulan ng bayaning Ilokanong si Diego Silang ang paghihimagsik laban sa mga kalupitan at pagmamalabis ng pamahalaang koloniyal ng mga Kastila at ng mga paring Katoliko sa Ilocos. Matagumpay niyang naitaboy palabas ng Ilocos Sur sina Governor Antonio Zabala at Bishop Bernardo Ustariz. Naging matagumpay sana ang paghihimagsik kung hindi siya pataksil na pinaslang ng isang nagkunwang kaibigan, si Miguel Vicos. Ang mestisong taksil na ito, sa utos ng obispong si Uztariz ay patalikod na binaril at napatay si Silang noong Mayo 28, 1763. Matapos ito, ipinagpatuloy ng kaniyang kabiyak na si Gabriela Silang ang paghihimagsik.

          Ang Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) ay binuo kaalinsabay ng 1974 Labor Code noong Disyembre 14, 1975. Ang pagpupulong ng 23 federations ng mga manggagawa upang mabuo ang samahan ay pinamunuan ni Roberto Oca Sr.

          Pinagtibay ng Senado ng Pilipinas ang General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) noong Disyembre 14, 1994 sa botong 18 laban sa anim. Ang GATT ang sinasabing naging dahilang ng economic dislocation ng mga magsasaka at manggagawa sa Pilipinas. Ang mga magiting na senador na bumoto ng laban sa GATT ay sina Arturo Tolentino (KBL), Ernesto Maceda at Anna Dominique Coseteng (NPC), Wigberto Tañada (LP) and Vicento Sotto II (Laban).

          Ayon sa Biblia, si Moses ay anak nina Amram at Jochebed na mula sa lipi ni Levi. Ang pangalan ng kaniyang lolo sa panig ng kaniyang ama ay Kohath. Upang iligtas siya mula sa utos ng paraon (pharaoh) ng Egypt na patayin ang lahat na sanggol na lalaki na ipapanganak ng mga Israelita, ipinaanod siya sa isang takbang sa ilog. Ang pangalang “Moses” ay ibinigay ng anak na babae ng paraon na “sumagip” at “nag-ahon” sa kaniya mula sa takbang na nakita niyang lumulutang malapit sa kaniyang pinagliliguan. Ang ibig sabihin ng “Moses” ay “sinagip” o “iniahon (mula sa tubig).”

          Diana (Ernestine Earle) Ross started her road to fame as the lead singer of the group The Supremes (1959-1970), before going solo. In 1972, she portrayed the American jazz singer Billie Holiday (real name Eleonora Harris, 1915-1959) in the film Lady Sings the Blues, where she won the Golden Globe Award. She became “Female Entertainer of the Century” in 1976.
          In 1993, the Guinness Book of World Records cited her as the “most successful female artist in history” for having 70 hit singles in her career as a singer. Ross is among the rare breed of entertainers who were given two “stars” in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as a member of The Supremes and as a solo artist.
