UNANG LABAS
Ang teen-oriented magazine na Sixteen ay unang lumabas noong June 22, 1968. Ang magazine ay halos kasinglaki lamang ng mga ordinaryong komiks at naglalaman din ng mga komiks series kabilang ang mga likha nina Mars Ravelo, Jim Fernandez, Carlo J. Caparas at Orlandro R. Nadres. Nagtampok din ito ng mga featured articles, columns, mga hit songs, at maiinit na balita sa showbiz at tungkol sa mga sikat na personalidad ng naturang panahon. Si Mars Ravelo ang nakaisip ng konsepto ng magazine at si Nadres naman ang naging unang editor nito. Inilimbag ito ng Pilipino Komiks Incorporated na sa simula ay Pilipino ang lengguwaheng ginamit. Makalipas ang ilang buwan, naging “Taglish” na ang medium of presentation nito, at nang lumaon, maliban sa mga illustrated stories na nasusulat pa rin sa wikang Pilipino, naging English na ang lengguwaheng ginamit sa mga artikulo sa magazine. Noong huling bahagi ng 1968, ang Atlas Publications Inc. na ang nagpatuloy ng paglilimbag nito.
Ang spread-out cover ng unang labas ng Sixteen Magazine, June 22, 1968,
na nagtatampok sa American rock band na The Raiders.
Naging popular na babasahin ang Sixteen na sinubaybayan ng mga campus teenagers, lalo na ng mga kababaihan. Subalit ang mga mag-aaral ng high school at college ay yumaon at nagtapos, naging mga professionals at nagkaroon ng pamilya, at dito sumabay sa pagbabago ang Sixteen. Noong March 1974 naging Sixteen MOD Filipina ang pamagat ng magazine. Makalipas ang siyam na buwan, naging kasing-laki ito ng 11”x13” tabloid. Noon namang October 10, 1975, naging MOD Filipina na ang titulo nito at naging exclusive para sa mga kababaihan. Pagtungtong ng 1980s hanggang 1990s, naging bisexual ang tema ng mga artikulong nilalaman nito na bukod sa mga mag-aaral ay mga professionals at class AB readers ang target. Noong July 3, 1992, naging MOD na lamang ang titulo nito, at noong 2004 lumiit sa 9”x12” ang sukat nito. Sumunod ay inililimbag ang MOD sa coupon-bond size.

1936 – Zamboanga (in Zamboanga del Sur) was declared a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 39.
1963 – Angeles (in Pampanga) and Dapitan (in Zamboanga del Norte) were declared cities by virtue of Republic Act Nos. 3700 and 3811 respectively.

1868 – Claro Caluya, poet and playwright – in Piddig, Ilocos Norte (d. December 14, 1914).
1920 – Jovito Reyes Salonga, lawyer, politician and 14th Senate President (July 27, 1987-December 21, 1992) – in Pasig City (d. March 10, 2016).

          Ang unang pelikulang nilabasan ng American-born Polish-Italian actress-singer na si Pia Zadora (tunay na pangalan Pia Alfreda Zadorowski Schipani) noong siya ay 10 taong gulang pa lamang ay ang Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) kung saan siya ay gumanap bilang isang batang Martian na nagngangalang Girmar.
          Noong 1982, lumabas siya sa kontrobersyal na pelikulang Butterfly na umiikot sa temang father-daughter incest. Sa pelikulang ito, kinanta niya ang “It’s Wrong for Me to Love You.” Napagwagian niya ang Golden Globe Award bilang “Best New Star of the Year,” manapa’y sa inpluensiya di-umano ng kaniyang milyonaryong asawang si Meshulam Riklis. Sa taon ding yaon si Zadora ang pinagkalooban ng Razzie Award para sa “Worst Actress.” Si Zadora ang kauna-unahang artista sa kasaysayan na nabigyan ng Golden Globe Award at Razzie Award para sa kaniyang pagganap sa iisang pelikula.

1570 – First battle of Manila, between the Filipinos led by Rajah Sulayman and the Spaniards led by Martin de Goiti.
1898 – General Emilio Aguinaldo established his dictatorial government in Cavite.
1906 – Philippine Postal Savings Bank was established and became a branch of the Bureau of Posts.
1954 – Trese Martires, the capital of Cavite, was declared a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 981.

          Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel became known for her title role in the French film Emmanuelle (1974) and Emmanuelle 2 (1975), which was based on the character created by Thai-born French novelist Emmanuelle Arsan (real name Marayat Bididh, 1932-2005) in the novel Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman (1959). She was soon typecast in the role of seductive woman. She also starred in the films Lady Chatterley's Lover (1981), Mata Hari (1985), and Private Lessons (1981), where she played the role of Nicole Mallow, a hired maid who seduced and taught sex to a teenage boy.

1916 – Through Act No. 2572, the Division of Ethnology and the Fine Arts Division of the Philippine Museum were merged with the National Library under the supervision of the Department of Justice.
1945 – Josefa Llanes Escoda was executed by Japanese soldiers.
1982 – First Manila International Marathon was held. Waldemar Cierpinski of East Germany won the event with a time of two hours 14 minutes and 27 seconds. Philip Camp (U.S.) and Chang Ming Cheng (Taiwan) was second and third, respectively. The top Filipino finisher was Ricardo Carillo, runner from the Philippine Army, who placed sixth overall with a time of 2:25:01.

          Demi Moore (real name Demi Gene Guynes) made her acting debut in the film Choices (1981). Do you know that she was on the cover of the adult magazine Oui? This was in the January 1981 issue of Oui (SEE attached magazine cover). Though Moore was already over 18 years old at the time of the publication, the picture was taken when she was barely 17, not yet of legal age. Moore was born on November 11, 1962.
