Runaway Asteroids: Are We Ready for Them?

MOD Vol. 32 No. 1486, March 17, 2000
On the cover: Shaira Luna

MOD magazine’s March 17, 2000 “Headliners” featured my article “Close Encounters of the Massive Kind: Runaway Asteroids – Are We Ready for Them?” (pp. 10-11). This was also published in the Manila Standard (January 3, 1999).

“The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood; and a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water; and the name of the star is Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened; and a third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.” – The Revelation of Jesus Christ 8:7-12, Holy Bible, The New King James Version.

  1. And as for that issue's cover girl herself, I still remembered Shaira contributing a column in MOD's kiddie section. Forgot the name, though, but that was during the late 90s (I remember).

  2. UPDATE: Now I know the title of Shaira's column on the "Campus" section of MOD: "Ask Shaira."
