Events that happened on May 19
1571 – The Second Battle of Manila, where Miguel Lopez de Legaspi defeated the forces of Rajah Sulayman and took possession of the city.
1893 – Institution of the Maura Law, which reformed the system of Philippine local government.
1898 – General Emilio Aguinaldo returned to the Philippines from Hongkong, bringing the new Philippine flag.
2006 – Filipino mounatineers reached the top of Mount Everest. The first one to reach the peak was Leo Oracion, followed by Erwin Emata and Romi Garduce.

          Ang “Climate Change” ay patungkol sa pagbabago-bago ng klima sa buong daigidig o sa isang rehiyon sa paglipas ng panahon, na maaaring sa loob ng ilang dekada o hanggang milyong-milyong taon. Sa kasalukuyang paggamit ng terminong ito, lalo na sa mga usapin na patungkol sa mga alituntuning pangkapaligiran (environmental policy), ito ay tumutukoy sa mga pagbabagong nagaganap sa klima ng daigidig sa kasalukuyang kapanahunan, kasama na rito ang pagtaas ng average surface temperature ng daigidig na tinatawag na “Global Warming.”
          Sinasabing ang Climate Change ay isang environmental domino effect. Ang Global Warming ay nagpaparami ng water vapor sa himpapawid, na humihigop ng sumisingaw na init ng daigdig. Ang tumataas na temperatura ay tumutunaw sa mga niyebe at yelo na tumatakip sa sangkalupaan ng North at South pole. Higit na malaking nakalitaw na lupa, higit na init na mula sa sinag ng araw ang nilalagom ng lupa na lalong nagpapataas ng temperature sa ibabaw ng daigidig, na patuloy na tumutunaw ng higit na maraming niyebe at yelo. Tumataas at lalong umiinit ang ibabaw ng tubig sa karagatan, na lumilikha ng higit na malalakas na bagyo at malawakang pagbaha, samantalang ang bahagi naman ng kalupaan ay lalong umiinit at natutuyo.

Events that happened on March 24
1899 – The first issue of the weekly publication Columnas Volantes was released in Lipa, Batangas.
1903 – The Manila municipal board granted Charles M. Swift a franchise to operate an electric street railway service and to furnish electricity in the city and its suburbs. This led to the establishment of the Manila Electric Railroad and Light Companay (MERALCO).
1934 – The Tydings-MacDuffie Law, sponsored by Millard Evelyn Tydings (1890-1961) and John MacDuffie, was signed by U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945). The law provided for the establishment of the Commonwealth government and the eventual granting of independence of the Philippines.
