LOOK-ALIKES ON THE COVERS

Browsing through hundreds, no thousands, of magazine covers, I found similarities of how the covers were presented, the angles, the features, and of course the persons on the cover. Yes, the persons on the covers that seemingly the mirror image of another – look-alikes.
Since my high school days, I ostensibly developed some kind of mental retentivity. Recalling things that I have seen is a part of this. Using this ability, I tried collecting the images of magazine covers with similar features. Believe me, there are many.

Sometimes, the right posture, the instance of smile, the aura of the eyes, the twitch of the dimples, the correct angle, blend together and the camera can capture conjunctions between two entirely different images, but are set aside until someone discovers them. Here, if we do not know them, Angel Locsin could be mistaken as Lovi Poe’s sister, vice versa.

Next is a similarity already known, Angel Locsin and Glaiza de Castro. The latter, if I’m not mistaken, used to play Locsin’s double when she was still with GMA 7. Though, the angle of the camera and facial mood still need to be aligned to produced a believable look-alike.

and Glaiza de Castro on the cover of Spotted Philippines (September 2015)

Is it possible to string up a chain of look-alikes? Let’s start with Angel Locsin. Her face is quite uniquely beautiful, but again with the right facial angle and posture, Andi Eigenmann can be a perfect look-alike.

and Andi Eigenmann on the cover of Speed (October 2010)

Next we connect Andi Eigenmann with Michelle Madrigal with a gaze and slightly daring lips. Ohh la la!

and Michelle Madrigal on the cover of Maxim Philippines (December 2006)

Changing the dare into a melancholic tease would connect Michelle Madrigal with Nikki Gil. Subtle but enough.

and Nikki Gil on the cover of Manual (August 2008)

A wide grin smiles and slight show of skin will connect Nikki Gil with Toni Gonzaga. Believe it or not!

and Toni Gonzaga on the cover of Women’s Health Philippines (July 2012)

In awe, indeed. Toni Gonzaga connects with Georgina Wilson with such a simple nod of the head.

and Georgina Wilson on the cover of Bannawag (November 12, 2012)

Ah, we’ve managed to make a “look-alike” connection between ladies who couldn’t have possibly have been look-alikes, and a string at that. The wonders of magazine covers. For the perfect finale, Georgina Wilson connects with Katrina Law with an anxious look.

Tree Spiking: Dirty Trick or Justified Means

Savvy Vol. 3 No. 16, October 20, 1997
On the cover: Jaclyn Jose and Daughter Andie

I have written about “Tree Spiking” a couple of times, but it was Savvy magazine that published the entire contents.

“If you surround and attack a city for a long time, trying to capture it, do not destroy its trees with an ax. You can eat the fruit from the trees, but do not cut them down. These trees are not the enemy, so don’t make war against them.” – Deuteronomy 20:19, The Everyday Bible, New Century Version.
