          Jon Bon Jovi (real name John Francis Bongiovi Jr) is known as the singer-songwriter and lead singer of the rock band Bon Jovi. Do you know the title of his first professional recording? When he was 17 years old, John Francis Bongiovi Jr worked as a janitor in the recording studio of his cousin Tony Bongiovi. In 1980, when Meco (real name Domenico Monardo) was recording the Christmas in the Stars: The Star Wars Christmas Album, Tony recommended John to sing the “R2-D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” This was his first professional recording, but he used the name John Bongiovi.

          The band Bon Jovi became an international hit after the release of their third and breakthrough album Slippery When Wet on August 18, 1986.

Ang Mabuhay Komiks ay unang lumabas sa sirkulasyon noong Setyembre 11, 1951. Ito ang ika-16 na komiks na inilimbag sa Pilipinas. Itinampok sa unang labas ang nobela ni Amado C. Yasona na “Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo,” na iginuhit ni Hugo Yonson Jr. Ito ay ginawang pelikula ng Premier production sa ilalim ng patnugot ni Gerry de Leon, at pinagbidahan nina Jose Padilla Jr, Anita Linda at Rita Gomez. Nagwagi ito ng kauna-unahang FAMAS Award para sa Best Picture noong 1952.

          At the age of 12, Jet Li (Li Lian-jie) became world champion in wushu even though he faced opponents more than 10 years older than him. As an actor, Jet Li first appeared in the film Shaolin Temple (1982). He is renowned for playing the roles of Hwang Fei-hung and Fong Sai-yuk in Chinese films including the Once Upon a Time in China series.

          In Hollywood films, Jet Li was first seen as a villain in the Mel Gibson starrrer Lethal Weapon IV (1998). His first starring role was in the film Romeo Must Die (2000).

          In 2003, he starred with rapper DMX in Cradle 2 the Grave. In this film, Jet Li demonstrated his martial arts prowess when he fought UFC fighters Randy Couture, Hector Echavarria, Tito Ortiz, Mark Hicks, Chuck Liddell and Garrett Warren all at once inside the ring. He also faced Filipino-Irish martial arts expert Mark Dacascos, who played the villain’s role, at the end of the film.

Ang pamagat ng nobela ay hiram mula sa mga maalamat na kuwento tungkol kay King Arthur na lumaganap noong ika-12 siglo. Datapuwa’t naiiba ang nilalaman ng kuwento. Nauna pang nailabas ang likhang ito ni Bermudez sa Mabuhay Komiks at naisapelikula ng LVN Pictures kaysa sa pelikula ni Alan Ladd na The Black Knight (1954). Sa pelikula, sina Rogelio dela Rosa at Tessie Quintana ang nagbida sa ilalim ng direksyon ni Bermudez.

          Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) won the Academy Best Award awards twice, for the films Battlefield 8 (1960) and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966). Do you know that she also received many international citations in different fields? Two among these are the French Legion of Honor (1987) and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (2000). In 2001, because of Taylor’s humanitarian works, especially in soliciting 200-million-dollar funds for research on AIDS and in propagating international awareness about the disease, she was given a Presidential Citizens Medal.
