I was fortunate enough to see the rare and spectacular event known as “Venus in Transit” on June 8, 2004, though just for a very short while because of the cloudy weather. I wrote an article about it for MOD, but it was featured in MOD Girl, albeit in a very girly pink background (Part I, June 18 and Part II, June 23, 2004). It’s quite nice though. Come to think of it, it's Venus, the planet name after the Roman goddess of love, sex and beauty.

1869 – Carlos de la Torre became governor-general of the Philippines. He introduced the ideas of liberalism to the Filipinos.

1988 – The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program took effect. The program despite much publicity, however, did very little to emancipate the Filipino farmers from the bondage of the soil.

          Ang South Korean singer, actress, television host at model na si Sandara Park ay lumaki sa Pilipinas. Bagama’t ipinanganak siya sa Busan, South korea (November 12, 1984), nagpunta sila sa Pilipinas noong siya ay 10-taong-gulang pa lamang upang magsimula ng trading business. Alam niyo ba kung papano siya napasok sa showbix? Noong siya ay 19-taong-gulang, nakilala niya si Pauleen Luna, na noon ay talent pa ng ABS-CBN Channel 2. Inudyukan siya ni Luna na sumali sa ABS-CBN talent survival show na Star Circle Quest. Noong 2004, ganoon nga ang ginawa ni Park at matapos ang talent search, pumangalawa siya kay Hero Angeles. Kabilang sa 10 na lumahok sa 2004 Star Circle Quest ay sina Roxanne Ginoo, Joross Gamboa, Melissa Ricks, Neri Naig, Errol Abalayan, Michelle Madrigal, Joseph Bitangcol at Raphael Martinez.
